Favorite Dollar Tree Buys!
As you know, I live in a fairly small town, so when the Dollar Tree opened up- it was a BIG deal. If you're not sure what the Dollar Tree is... the name will give you one hint. Everything is $1.00. Like many dollar stores, some products are hit and miss. In my earlier posts, I raved about the disposable razors I found (because razors are expensive). The items below are things I buy every time I visit OR try before you buy deal.
1. Quick Erasers (generic Magic Erasers): I love Magic Erasers, but I do not love their price. These are great to have if you have critters (two or four legged) at home. They literally clean everything. I saw a facebook post regarding these dupes and how awesome they work. I HAD to try them, and I will have to say they are awesome. You get two is the box for $1.00 compared to the pack of two Mr. Clean brand at Walmart for $2.80. SOLD!!!
2. Cleaning Supplies: Let's face it. No one likes buying cleaning supplies. You're just buying something to facilitate completing an already lengthy chore. Shelling out $3-$5 for name brand, does not make me or my wallet smile. You can find a wide variety of cleaning supplies at the DT. Also, usually you can catch name brand items! I stock up when I find these treasures!
3. Parchment Paper and Plastic Storage Bags: Another items, you are going to use and toss, so why spend a fortune of name brand?! I love the surefresh storage bags and buy them in a variety of sizes.
4. Toothpaste: You can find super deals on toothpaste at DT- especially when coupled with a coupon. We always buy our toothpaste here. Again, I'm still getting name brand at a fraction of the price.
5. BOBBY PINS!!! No matter how many I buy they ALWAYS end up missing. (Actually, when I was washing the bed linens the other day, I found 8-10 in the bed. Oops!). Bobby pins are available at about any store, but I can't bring myself to pay $2+ for something I KNOW I am going to lose. This is a 2 pack for $1.00. Plus, it's incredibly hard to find the gold/blonde colored pins, but my local DT always carries them.
6. Tissue Wrapping Paper: I sell regularly online, and if I've learned anything- people love opening a beautifully wrapped package. (Colourpop is getting it right!!) You can buy a pack of 25 solid colored sheets, OR if you like a little more flare, you can buy a pack of 8 sheets as well. I always buy tissue wrapping paper in bulk because I go through it so ofter.
7. Duct Tape: Again, back to selling online... Have you checked the price of duct tape recently at a major retailer?! I REFUSE to pay $4-$6 for a roll!!! Thankfully, DT offers super cute patterns in roles at their store. This is another item I typically buy multiples at one time.
I did a rough estimate if you were to buy everything pictured at a large retailer (name brand items)- $33-$35 total!
One quick trip to the Dollar Tree- $12 plus tax!
It's a win in my book! Do you have some Dollar Tree favorites? Let me know!

Life with a 3rd Shifter
(I told ya I promised to write more blogs!)
This blog has been on my mind and heart for a while. My husband picked up a third shift job about a year ago. This was a the same time I converted to working from home. It literally turned our schedules upside down. We were two people working 9AM-5PM Monday-Friday for many, many years. We had a routine. We had a schedule. At first, it was an incredibly hard adjustment, but after a lot of trial an error, we finally found something that works for us.
I am incredibly thankful for a husband who works full time to provide for his family. He endures crappy hours for the greater good. Beyond work, he stays determined to stick to his prior commitments outside of his family life. Even more so, I am thankful he has a job he enjoys, and an employer who treats him so well!! They are caring, genuinely interested in their workers, and flexible. You can't find all those qualities in more employers. But don't let me fool you... third shift can still be tough.
The world still goes on. I have a husband who works a 12 hour shift and gets home at 6AM. Need to run errands? Doctor visits? Pay bills? Guess what? He sacrifices sleep to get everyday tasks done. Most places are only open 9-5, so he's forced to meet their schedules. We try to schedule on his days off, but it's not always feasible.
No more family meals on work days. I usually do not get off work until 5PM or later, and with my husband leaving around 5:45PM- there's not much room for dinner together in between. (I mean- unless it's cereal). We used to eat dinner together every day. Now, it's whatever he can grab, and he's out the door.
Adapting to cooking smaller portions. When I try to cook for myself, I have to make smaller portions. I usually still cook for two, so one of us can eat leftovers. I miss cooking full meals, but I just find it silly to cook a big meal for myself.
My husband never knows what day it is. Poor Joe can't remember if it's Thursday or Friday. When you work multiple nights in a row, I would say it's hard to keep track of the days. When it's after midnight, does he say it's still today or tomorrow?!
The misery when someone calls him repeatedly at 11AM, and he's trying to sleep. Would you like someone to call you at 3AM to chat?
Even on his day off, we still operate on different schedules. I still wake up when he's headed to bed.
I believe the hardest thing of all is the amount of time we actually have to see each other throughout the week. Like I said, before we were both home around 6PMish and had the entire night to spend with one another. Now... his two days off seem almost nonexistent. In the blink of an eye, they are over, so we try to take advantage of them the best we can.

27 isn't too bad.
Once again, I've been missing for around two weeks or so. I try to write at least once a week, but sometimes that doesn't happen. Especially with a birthday, doctor, Poshmark, Plexus, and hair appointment in between. Plus... I've been laptop-less- not to be confused with topless. Writing blogs is really difficult when you don't have a laptop. I tried.
Turning 27 wasn't too bad. The outpouring of love and well wishes was absolutely stunning. Not to mention, some really thoughtful, really great gifts. I was even to celebrate with food and friends TWICE.
The husband absolutely outdid himself.
Not only, will we be cruising to the Bahamas in October- I am writing to you on a fancy-smancy new computer. Since he confiscated the laptop, he knew I needed something to write my blogs, create digital cards/invitations (did you know that happens on the side?), and.... officially be able to play Sims. (I also bet you didn't know that?!)
I fully suspect this new computer will allow me to focus a little more time on all the technology-based things in my life. Prepare yourself for some grocery list, organization, DIY, pale girl, pet loving, probably some complaining blogs. Have something specific in mind? Let me know!
I'm now patiently awaiting my staycation in June and Bahamas in October.

Jerrica's Partially Realistic Birthday Wish List
Holy smokes. In two days, it will be a full 30 days since I've posted a blog. I have no excuses except that life happens, and you have to deal with what is in front of you. I also realized next week is my birthday. I'm inching closer to 30, and I don't really like it. That is an entirely different story, for a different day.
My birthdays are usually low-key and spent with my Dad/stepmomma. Again, that thing called life changed our plans this year. Joe is pretty great at getting me a really thoughtful gift for my birthday. For the past few weeks he's been hinting around and asking what I really want. Of course, I couldn't think of a thing. Which got me to thinking.... Hello?! A wish list. Some are entirely unrealistic, but some are within reason. (Also, I'm making this list, so when Christmas rolls around I'll have a reference point. HAHA!) For the record these are in NO order (maybe except the first and last one- they might be my favorite favorites)- just typing as they come to mind.
1. A subscription to Owlcrate- There are a million monthly subscriptions out there, but this one in particular is geared towards readers, and readers who enjoy Young Adult (YA) books. Plus, they include some really awesome book related items. If you've not heard of it, it's definitely worth checking out. Owlcrate Website
2. Cricut- I just think it would be neat to have one of these, so I can sticker all of my possessions. I also need more cats on my stick family decal. (Kidding, but... really though.) I have a few friends who own one and make the cutest things! This takes my childhood sticker obsession to a whole new level. You can find more info Here :)
3. Amazon Firestick- Yes, we already own one of these, but I want one for the bedroom too! We cut cable/satellite some time ago and solely rely on Hulu/Netflix for entertainment. I've especially grown to love our Firestick in the living room. I would even take one without the voice control. If you're a prime member and you don't have one of these... you are missing out!! It is well worth the $40-50 to purchase. In case you needed help finding the link- Here :)
4. Frozen, The Little Mermaid, and/or Mary Poppins on DVD- Yes, I'm in my late 20s, and I still enjoy Disney movies. I have a few in my collection, but I am always looking to add more.
5.Juicy Couture Crossbody- I looked at this in store over the weekend, and now... I realize I really want it. It's the softest, shiniest pink. Aghhhhh.... drool. Check it out Here :)
6. Charm Bracelet- I had a charm bracelet through middle school and high school. Then... one night at the movies the ball came loose, and I lost all but 4-5 charms. I was heartbroken. By the time I realized they were missing, the movie theater had already swept and cleaned the theater. It was forever lost.
My super, super unrealistic (for now) wish list item: KitchenAid stand mixer!!! Any color, any model.
I'm sure there are some of other items I could list, but these were the first to come to mind. For example, I didn't even include beauty related products ( because I am pretty sure I did a beauty wish list not too long ago). Here's to counting down the days until I am one year older...

Incredible, Edible Egg(less) Cookie Dough
Some days you just need to eat cookies. Today wasn't a terrible day; it wasn't even a slightly bad
day. There's some not so great things going on behind the scenes, but I
brush it off. After dinner tonight though, I just really wanted a cookie. Except, I didn't want really want baked cookies- I just wanted the dough. And I never buy cookies to make at home because I'll eat all the dough and/or cookies by myself. It's a vicious cycle.
Thank heavens though for all the people who share eggless cookie dough recipes online, and I am even more thankful for those who post the recipe for just 1-2 servings. Because that is how I battle my cookie dough craving. I've tried a million recipes from Pinterest, and it took a lot of trial and error to perfect my eggless cookie dough recipe. Tonight I opted for a sugar cookie dough-
Mix butter and sugar together well. (If not, your cookie dough will resemble sand.)
Add all other ingredients- EXCEPT the water- and mix well.
Slowly, mix in the water a little at a time. Mix until you're happy with the texture of your dough. (You may need a little more or less depending on how you want the dough.)

- 2 tablespoons of butter (softened)
- 2 1/2 ish tablespoons of sugar. I shy on the 2 side, so it's not super sugary.
- Splash of vanilla extract
- A shake or two of the salt shaker
- 1 3/4 ish cups of all purpose flower
- 1-2 1/2 table spoons of water

Hello Spring!
It's officially spring!! The first day of spring, Palm Sunday, Passion Sunday. I would have to say this is my second favorite time of the year just behind fall. Everything is beginning to change, and the world is coming to life again. After dropping our nephew off after church, we took the back road to Joe's grandmother's house. That road is a tiny, winding road, but it has some of the most beautiful scenes you will see in this area. I started thinking of all the reasons I love springtime.
1. Flowers. Greenery. I love love love all the flowers and trees coming into bloom. I stepped out on my front porch just two days ago and realized the only two trees in my yard are in full bloom. The lilies are beginning to sprout. The grass is green. Our allergies are in full force. This year we promised ourselves to update the outside and add a walkway from the porch to the driveway.
2. Birds. Call me a nerd. I've always been fascinated with birds. I had two parakeets growing up, and I loved them so much! Just this past week, we filled the feeder, and some visitors are slowly stopping by. I can always tell when birds are at the feeder because the cats sit glued to the window tails waving and teeth chattering.
3. Sandals. I hate wearing shoes, and do not even get me started about socks. I'm also not one of those people who thinks flip flops in 30 degree weather is not acceptable. I just want to slip on some sandals when I have to leave. No socks. No shoelaces. No zippers. No problem.
4. Skirts and Dresses. Just like sandals, throwing on a dress or skirt is easy and not to mention super cute.
5. Everyone quits whining about winter. I swear. This past winter I came across some of the most whiny, angry people. I was so tired of seeing winter getting hated on. But would you appreciate spring, if it weren't for winter? Let that soak in.
6. Pastels! Somehow I started getting this style magazine in the mail. The Spring edition came in the mail, and it is filled with pastels. Baby pinks, icy lilac, canary yellow, and powdery blues.
7. BABY ANIMALS EVERYWHERE. No more explanation needed.
And with that note, I will end because what can top baby animals?!

Why Not Wednesday? Perfectly Posh Apricots Overnight
This is a special Why Not Wednesday. Mostly because I'm not posting it at 10PM. This post is also special because a long time friend offered products in return for a review. I told her I would do one better and offer a blog. Why not?
Tabby is a Perfectly Posh consultant and was looking for a few people to try out products. She had a few options, but I decided to go with Apricots Overnight. Who doesn't love the scent of apricots?! This is a moisturizing face mask. You apply on clean dry skin at night and rinse off in the morning. It contains several fruit extracts to help with skin rejuvenation.
When I say a little bit goes a long way... I mean it! Which with face products, this is always exciting for me. It's a mask, so note before purchasing, this product will be thicker than your normal moisturizer. I've only used my sample once, but there's no doubt I'll get five full uses out of this sample packet.
If you've known me any length of time, I've struggled with my skin since hitting mid-20s. I've tried a million moisturizing products! In one use, all my dry patches were gone!! After rinsing off, my face felt refreshed and looked vibrant.
I really recommend this product. A full size tube is $22 for 3 fl oz. My sample was only .15 fl oz, so I could only imagine how long this would last.

My Weekend Needed a Pause Button
It has been a while since I last recapped my weekend, and this past one was probably one of my favorites in a longggg time. In fact, I just searched back through my posts, and it was in 2013. Maybe I need to be a little more lively on the weekends... or at least do something exciting at my house. But this past weekend, I could've hit pause and had an extended Friday (after 5PM), Saturday, and Sunday.
Friday I kicked off the weekend with Zootopia accompanied by my mom and baby brother. And no, I didn't use him as an excuse to watch a children's movie. Joe and I proudly go watch kids movies all the time. Seriously though, if you haven't seen Zootopia- I recommend it. It's super cute, funny, and has a really good moral. I personally like Judy, the main character, I see a lot of myself in her character. Plus, there's adult jokes in there, so you can get a laugh too. My baby brother, who is four, actually sat through the movie. It may have helped that we had pop, popcorn, and candy, but either way he REALLY enjoyed it. I also introduced him to the world of snapchat filters. Just give a four year old your phone and snapchat, and he'll be entertained for hours.
Saturday was was even better. I had some errands early that morning, so I thought while I was out I would wander around our local Vendor's Mall. To my surprise, I ran into my grandmother there. We decided to top the morning off with a tip to Goodwill and the Dollar Tree. She also treated me to breakfast, which was so good. (Except nothing compares to her fried taters!) And oh yeah... I got a tattoo Saturday.
I knew I wanted a tattoo for my sweet Macho cat, and I had a couple of ideas I had been kicking around for some time. This one was at the top of the list. It was so perfect. I couldn't be happier with the turnout. Plus, my tattoo guy is the bomb. Joe and I sat and cut up with him for hours!
Sunday was not special. We went to church Sunday morning, and bible study that night. Kudos to any pastor who can incorporate writing poetry in a bible study! It was probably my favorite lesson... EVER. I may also be partial becuase I wont the 3rd grade acrostic poem contest. (I still remember the first line "Valentine, valentine. You're so fine."
I did get to craft some on Sunday which was long overdue!! A few weeks ago I had dropped a mirror and shattered the glass. The frame was still perfectly fine, and if you've ever tried finding good frames for a project it's nearly impossible. The frame sat propped against the wall for some time. Then, our of no where, I had this idea spark. I mean pinterest helped some, but whatever. I had never really worked with decomesh before, so I was pretty pleased.

Why Not Wednesday: e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer
elf has been a beloved drug store brand of mine for quite some time. I remember in middle/high school my aunt emailed me about this website where all the makeup was only $1.00. Over the years, elf has grown so much as a company and introduced some amazing products. The best part- they are very affordable options. I was SO EXCITED when they announced they were releasing a skincare line! Skincare items tend to be more expensive than other beauty items, so I knew elf would have affordable options. Plus, I'm a skincare junkie...
I contemplated ordering online for quite some time. It would sit in my cart for weeks as I went back on forth whether or not to buy. While strolling through WalMart, I noticed a bunch of little yellow "new" tags in the skincare aisle. There... on the top shelf of course... was the entire elf skincare line. Why not? At first I opted to only buy the cleanser and daily moisturizer. I have a ton of target specific items at home, but I use daily cleanser and moisturizer like they are going out of style. I am always looking for great, daily options. (This blog is strictly about the moisturizer, but I will eventually follow-up about the cleanser.)
The website states it is lightweight, lightly scented. It's infused with a couple different items- first listed purified water, jojoba oil, aloe, and a couple others. It also lists antioxidantes- shea butter, grape and orange. My favorite part all elf skincare products are paraben, sulfate, and phthalates free.
I. Hate. This. Moisturizer.
1. I don't consider it lightweight. It sat very, very heavy on my face and refused to dry or sink in! One day I timed it... 43 minutes. That is unacceptable.
2. When it does decide to dry, it is sticky. My face felt tacky afterwards. I actually rewashed my face and applied a different moisturizer.
3. I really like elf, so I decided to give it another shot and apply makeup. Terrible, terrible mistake. I made it through primer and 1/4 foundation application. Again, I washed my face immediately.
4. Maybe it's my sensitive nose, but the smell is overwhelming.
5. Upon purchase, I was excited to see they took the time to include a pump! I hate squeeze bottles or jars. The first couple of pumps no product came out. I thought... okay this is typical for new pumps. Nope. The pump is useless. There's no tube connected to the pump, so you have to shake hold upside down, pump it a million times, and repeat.

I feel bad for writing this because I really like elf products, but I would not recommend this one. Spend a little more and purchase one you love.

The Working Reality
First, before you read this post and assume I am complaining, I am fortunate to be able to work remotely. It has been a true blessing to our family, as we hit a few bumps in the road. What I mean by bumps, is off-roading, need an ATV, mountains to get over. A question I get sooo many times- how do I get your job? I want to work from home and sit around all day!
What people don't often realize is the reality of working remotely. Although this doesn't cover it all, it's probably the top reasons I hear from people who want to work from home.
You get to wear pajamas all day! This is totally true. I do get to wear more comfortable clothes than skirts and heels. After almost eight years in an office five days a week, I didn't have ANY "normal" clothes to wear besides business attire. Now you're probably thinking, I wear my fancy yoga pants and corresponding tee. To be honest, it's usually my pajamas from the night before, and I don't ever match. You can bet there is some sort of ink and/or coffee stain. I hardly ever "get ready", and when I do, my husband or mother says, "Wow! you put on real pants today!"
Can you do me a favor? Run an errand, pick this up, etc? No, no I can't. Do you know why? I have a REAL job and things to do. Yes, I work remotely, but that doesn't mean I have any less of a workload or job. Most days I am lucky to even feed myself. In office, I was more apt to walk away and take a real lunch or break. I still have deadlines conference calls, resumes to review, and emails to answer.
You don't have to deal with coworkers. Well, this is also true. I don't have to make awkward chit chat and ask about your weekend wasting twenty minutes of time. Without this distraction, I am able to be a lot more productive. On the flip side, the majority of the time there is very little interaction beyond a brief call or email. There's days I crave real human interaction. My husband works nights, so our scheduling doesn't allow a lot of time for full conversations. I'm usually waiting to talk to him when he comes home, at which point he stares blankly because he just worked a 12 hour shift, and it's 6AM. I sometimes chat with the cats, but they are never interested in what I have to say.
You get to work whenever you want! I still work a standard work week- Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM. I think the hardest part of working from home is learning to clock-out. I struggled with this for the longest time, but doing better. In my job, your work is never done There's always one more place to source, one more candidate to contact, one more resume to review. Supporting managers across the world, also means I am working in literally every time zone. Before or after my work schedule, I catch myself thinking, "Well, I'll just hop on a moment." Or, "Let me answer this email really quick." Two hours later, I'm still working.

So, yes, working remotely does have both pros and cons. Believe me when I say it takes an incredibly organized, self-motivated, and dedicated person. Why would you like to work from home?

The Reading Backlog: What's on my Nightstand
I could sit here and write about books and reading all day. I've always loved reading, and my collection of books is out of control. Combine that with a husband who also loves to read, and your house is literally a library. Two offices, two nigh stands, four book shelves, and a few storage totes later.... we have a book from every genre and almost every subject. One of my all time favorite quotes comes from Cicero.
Books allow you to go on an adventure without taking a step. They allow you to feel, to love, to cry, to laugh. On my hardest days, I escape with a good book. Some people think naps or chocolate can cure anything... give me a cup of tea and a good book.
I've struggled lately finding a really good book that I can sit and read for hours. I think my last book (I finished) was Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige and Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Also, add some John Greene and some motivational books to the current completed list. My ongoing list though? It is filled with books that are readable and enjoyable, but I haven't been sucked into them... yet. Note that yet? I really, truly plan on reading/finishing these books.
1. Go Set a Watchman- Harper Lee
When this was released, I was almost in tears. TKAM forever changed my teen years and, it will ALWAYS be on my top MUST read list. To hear there was a sequel, I was overjoyed. I picked this up shortly after it came out, but.... haven't read it through. I find myself reading this hours on end and waiting weeks before I pick it up again.
2. The Wicked Will Rise- Danielle Paige
It's the age of fairy tale retellings. This is the second in a series about Dorothy, Oz, and the wicked Witch. Oh my! I blew through the first one in a week. I LOVED it. I may be partial to the story though, as I have always loved classic fairy tales/stories and their modernistic retellings. I bought this as soon as it came out, and I've not even cracked the book open. Guilty. The first book came out in 2014 and if you enjoy this type of reading I highly highly suggest checking out this series. This is the author's direct page- Danielle Paige
3. Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles) by MArissa Meyer
This is another fairy tell retelling. And... just like the above I zoomed through the first and could not wait to pick up the second in the series. The first is Cinderella based but with robots, and databases, and diseases. Except, I did start to read this one, I had some trouble trying to sit down and read through it. This one may not get finished, as one of my other book lovers said they were EXTREMELY disappointed by the series. Boo! I try to not judge a book on one opinion, but so far it's not faring so well for this book. Interested- check it out here :)
4. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
I read rave reviews this book while doing some research on decluttering and methods that actually last. I bit the bullet and purchased via iTunes, and it is on my phone/iPad. So far I have read this book and really liked the flow and her thought processing. I will say... some of her methods are a little out there for me, but if you follow the basics, you will see improvement in your life. To date- I've got rid of at least 5 bags of garbage two huge boxes of donations, and made about $100 on eBay selling items. Yes, you can guarantee there will be blog(s) about my methods and progress.
5. The Tao of Twitter by Mark Schaefer
This is a recent add to my ongoing list. My husband has been after me and after me to read this book. He said it was a really, really good read, and it will help with my twitter/blog usage. Let's face it.... I am twitter-challenged. Well, challenged in the sense I struggle to use it effectively. I am excited to read this book and hopefully grow my blog.
What's on your reading list? Any suggestions for me? I am always looking for new books. After Harry Potter ended I have this huge, hole, and I struggle to find something comparable. :)

Why Not Wednesday? Yogi Tea
To say I've been stressed lately would be an understatement. I've been stressed on top of stressed coupled with hardly any sleep. I started to see some light at the end of the tunnel, but I'm almost positive that's just another train passing through. This Why Not Wednesday? is brought to you by stress.
I used to be a HUGE soda drinker. Spare telling me it's really bad and so on because I learned that the hard way. Soda was destroying my body. Copious amounts of syrupy sugar was destroying my body. (If you read earlier on, I was diagnosed pre-diabetic!) When I buckled down with 21DF, my first goal was to completely cut pop/soda and sugar loaded coffee. But.... oh that caffeine.
Not to sound like an addict, but I did still need my caffeine. I do drink tea, but I would buy regular tea, and guess what- load it with sugar. While scrolling through my 21DF group, someone posted about Yogi Tea. I had never heard of it or seen the brand in store. My accountability group RAVED about this tea. So, I thought why not?
I mean the tea has to be amazing if it was first served by an inspirational holistic teacher to his class after a yoga session. If that doesn't scream relaxation. then I don't know what does. They now have so many rich flavors, variety of spices, and soothing aromas. Plus, each tea tag comes with an inspirational saying or quote. Each cup of tea makes me smile. If you're interested in their whole story, check it out here :)
Currently I only have a few flavors- Green Tea Blueberry Slim Life, DeTox tea, and Raspberry Passion Perfect Energy. I LOVE every tea I have purchased so far. Also, I've not had to add any sugar to match my taste preferences. My personal favorite is the raspberry. The flavor is sweet but tangy, and it provides a natural energy. To date, I've replaced pop with my Yogi Tea. Instead of coffee in the morning, I reach for my tea!! (I would be lying if I didn't say... I have a McDonalds Coke on really bad day.)
If you're local, WalMart has very few selections. It is sold in most grocery chain. You can always find it online. I like to order from Amazon- mostly because I have prime. The tea can run $4-7 a box depending where you purchase.
If you're a tea drinker or looking for a natural alternative for caffeine- check out Yogi Tea! Also, this is one of my top favorite cheesy jokes!

14 Quotes about Mushy Love Stuff
I jumped the gun a little and posted 14 things about my husband earlier in the week. Our Valentine's plans haven't really changed either. You can find us hanging out at home, watching Netflix, playing Xbox, and laughing at the cats. I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.
I've seen post after post of presents for Valentine's day. There's a couple who I adore, and I LOVE seeing what gifts they receive. This holiday- these super cute Star Wars themed key chains. My BFF received a singing telegram. Countless, flowers, chocolates, and cards. Every year I think of a friend's husband, who has a gift, but scrambles to find something to write in her card. Know a guy like this? Are you a guy who still needs those perfect words?
Let me help you out! These are my top 14 love quotes perfect for any mushy, gushy card.
1. I was about half in love with her by the time we sat down. That’s the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty…you fall half in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are.” J. D. Salinger
2. “Who, being loved, is poor?” Oscar Wilde
3. "We're all a little weird, and life's a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love." Dr. Suess
4. “Do I love you? My god, if your love were a grain of sand, mine would be a universe of beaches.” William Goldman- The Princess Bride
5. “I do love nothing in the world so well as you - is not that strange?” William Shakespeare
6. “We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.” Albus Dumbledore
7. "Where you treaure isthere your heart will be also." Matthew 6:21
8. "I look at you, and I am home." Dory
9. "Uuuuuur Aaaahhhrrrrr.Uuuuuurrrrr Arghhhh." Chewbacca
10. "Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." Emily Bronte
11. "As soon as I saw you, I knew an adventure was going to happen." Winnie the Pooh
12. "After a while, you just want to be with the one that makes you laugh." Mr. Big
13. "What a greater gift than the love of a cat." Charles Dickens
And most of all.. Song of Solomon 8:6-7
Joe and I have matching tattoos of the first line of this verse in Hebrew.
I hope your Valentine's day is everything you want it to be! If not, just remember tomorrow all chocolate will be half off. Enjoy!

Why Not Wednesday? Jergens BB Hand Cream
This winter we've been incredibly lucky to have more warm days than cold. I've not had to be as diligent in taking extra care of my hands from the cold weather. This second round of cold and snow is beginning to take a toll though. My poor hands get chapped so easily, so I have to slather on extra, extra lotion and take some preventative measures to keep them happy.
There are so many options on the market, and I'm not one to stray from my usual lotions/creams. (Mostly because of my sensitive skin.) However, I came across the Jergens BB Hand Cream on clearance at our local Walmart back in the fall. This is not something I would normally buy, but when it is 75% off, I thought why not. This hand cream provides SPF 20 and also claims it will diminish dark spots within two weeks. The hand cream is made for all skin tones. (They also have a body BB cream offered in different skin tones.)
You can purchase at any drugstore and find online from multiple sellers. I've linked the Jergens Website, so you can check out the details. Depending where you purchase- this retails from $6-8.00.
Instant Benefits- As the bottle states it hydrates, smooths, and protects instantly. It definitely hydrates the skin, My hands feel moisturized immediately after application. My hands also appear to be smoother and more youthful. I like this cream when my hands start to become really dry. I do not use this as my every day hand lotion. It's super thick, but does not leave a heavy or oily feeling. My hands feel silky smooth after. It instantly rejuvenates my hands overall and makes them happy again.
In 2 weeks- The bottle claims it will diminish dark spots and even your skin tone. I do not use this consistently enough to comment on the long term benefits.
Would I purchase again? Full price- absolutely not. At a really good deal, possibly. It's not a hit, but it's not a miss either. If you're interested, it may be worth checking out. :)
My winter hand care tips:
- Wear gloves when outside. Not for the obvious reasons of warmth, but a shield from blistering winds.
- Apply emollient at night before going to sleep, and slip on some cotton gloves for the night.
- Limit the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, and when washing, use mild soap and lukewarm water.
- Drink extra water to keep skin hydrated.
- Moisturize, moisturize moisturize!! I'm talking applying 5 to 6 times day.

February Makeup Lust List 2016
In light of everything going on (one day I will catch you up about it all), I wanted a light and airy piece for my blog. Writing can often times make me feel better, and my blog needed some attention. My BFF mentioned doing a lust list about beauty products.
She asked if money wasn't a concern OR you could find it- what would you beauty products would you buy?
You might look at this list, and think really? A lot of these are in people's everyday arsenal. Let me give you some back story- I was a one brand kind of gal a few short years ago. This brand was moderately priced and even better when you were a consultant. Recently, I've expanded into other brands and slowly adding others to my beauty collection.
Why did I choose these??
1. Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet Foundation- I have read a lot of reviews about this product, and the results are mixed. Some people applaud it, and others are less than pleased. I use matte finish because my poor face has some oily, oily spots. I tested in store, and it was a good match and dried a very beautiful matte. You can check out more details here! Retail $39.00
2. Wet N Wild Nude Awakenings eye shadow palette- This palette is VERY reminiscent of the earlier Naked palettes. I have other WNW palettes, and I really like the color payout and wear-ability. I cannot find this palette ANYWHERE!! It was released in 2013, so I am thinking I will never get to enjoy this beaut. :( I don't have a link to share, but I would say it retailed for $4-6.00
3. Urban Decay Moondust eye shadow in Solstice: I fell in LOVE with this color at an Urban Decay event at Ulta. It is gorgeous on, and the swatches do not do it justice. It's a brownish-burgundy rich color with blue 3D glitter/reflects. I convinced myself to buy it in store that day, but it was sold out. Since then, I haven't taken the plunge to purchase. There is a WNW "dupe", but it does not even compare!! For more details and to admire go here! Retail $21.00
4. Too Faced The Little Black Book of Bronzers- I looked at this in store some time ago and really like the variety and colors it provided. Obviously, I didn't buy it then. Now I find myself returning, reviewing, and admiring this set. The cheetah print bronzer is by far my choice of the group. More details here! Retail $49.00
5. Too Faced Love Flush Blush Wardrobe: Again, I am drawn to this because of the variety and options in the palette! I think these colors would compliment my skin tone and work great for me. I've swatched the flush blushes in store, and the pigmentation is awesome. For more details go here!
Retail $36.00
6. Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara- O M G! I love love love this product. I have a few samples of this mascara, and I only use it for special occasions. This mascara gives me the added volume and length needed. It stays on and doesn't flake even after 10+ hours. I would love to add this to my everyday collection!! To check it out, go here! Retail $24.00
For the record, my birthday is right around the corner. I mean these would make GREAT presents.

14 Questions about my Other Half
I saw a fellow facebooker post these questions in a status and versus flooding people's feed with my answers, I thought I would post a blog. Plus, Valentine's Day is around the corner, so it's perfect timing.
As the title suggestions- 14 questions about my other half. Not still questions either. Plus, some throwback pictures?!
1. Where did you meet your other half?
We met through mutual friends who were dating at the time. I lived with my friend, and her boyfriend lived in the same complex.

1. Where did you meet your other half?
We met through mutual friends who were dating at the time. I lived with my friend, and her boyfriend lived in the same complex.
2. How long have you been with your significant other?
Just shy of 8 years. Holy smoke- it's hard to believe that!
3. If you're married, when did you say " I do"?
September 26, 2009. Originally, we wanted our anniversary to be 09/09/2009, but it was on a week day, and no one goes to a wedding on a week day.
4. What song did you walk down the aisle to?
Face palm. Okay... it was the chorus to a song. I HAD to be different. No, I didn't want the typical bridal march.
5. Do you have any children yet?
Well, no. Five years of heartache and sadness. We do have fur-children though!
6. What's your favorite thing about your other half?
His ability to make me laugh. (Cheesy answer, right?) No matter how upset, angry, or disappointed Joe can ALWAYS make me laugh. I'm convinced he has an arsenal of memes and pictures saved on his phone to send for every occasion.
7. Were you and your other half high school sweethearts?
Nope. We didn't even know each other existed then.
8. Where was your first date?
This question is debatable. I can tell you about my "assumed" first date. Joe calls one day and says,"I have two tickets to the Dark Knight premiere. Would you like to go?" Sure! He picks me up in his car, and we head towards the movie. Well, he passes the turn to go towards the interstate. I was confused. "Oh yeah. We have to pick up Calep." Okay, whatever. This will be fine.We get to the movies where Joe meets up with at least 5 of his other guy friends. I was even more confused. Talk about awkward.
9. How long were you dating before you said "I love you"?
I honestly don't remember. Do you know in the movies where people just say it without realizing it, and then ask each other if that just happened? Well, that's how our's worked out.
10. How long were you dating your other half before he/she proposed?
First off- NO JUDGING. Another typical movie plot- we just KNEW we were THE ONEs to complete each other. We were together roughly 6 months before he proposed.
11. Where is your favorite place you have traveled with your other half?
Disclaimer- Joe and I have NEVER been on vacation together. Not a real vacation. We plan to change that this year with discussions of visiting DC and NY.
12. How do you and your other half usually spend Valentine's Day?
We are both homebodies. We are entirely content with binging on Netflix, playing games, and eating a home cooked meal.
13. What does your favorite 'date night' consist of?
Usually a movie and possible dinner.
14. What is the best gift you have received from your other?
The gift of unconditional love and respect. I will spare you the mushy, gushy details.
Take a minute and answer these questions about your other half! I promise it will make you smile!

I dug out some oldddd pictures just for you. This was a selfie from our "first date"

Why Not Wednesday? Baby Foot- Foot Exfoliant Peel
Baby Foot- Exfoliant Foot Peel has been floating around the internet for quite some time. I was incredibly skeptical of this product, as I didn't believe it would work miracles as the reviews suggested. Boy, was I wrong. Saying this product worked is an understatement.
If you've not heard about Baby Foot, it is a foot exfoliant that removes layers of dead skin cells built up on your feet. It uses natural extracts and fruit acids to do the job. Through the process, your feet begin to slough/peel to expose the fresh, smooth skin underneath. Now, do not think this is just some peel like a sunburn. This is full-on peeling. Sheets of skin peeling, but it absolutely does not hurt! Gross, right?
The process- You get these hospital, alien looking plastic booties filled with the gel. Soak your feet in warm water about 30 minutes, dry, put on the booties and cover with socks. *Note- these are not made for walking around! It's dangerous, and reminds me of sloshing around in those sponge looking flip flops in middle school after they got wet. Sit back, relax, or if you're me work while your feet soak for an hour or so. After removing, rinse and dry. Then... this is the part where impatient people (like me) get agitated- the peeling. Some reviews said they started peeiling in 4-5 days. Me? I waited a whole two weeks before any signs. After that, holy guacamole- my feet peeled for two more weeks!! It was to the point I had to wear socks full-time because I would leave trails of peeling skin. Even more gross, right?!
The package reads each cycle takes between 4-30 days. I wouldn't say my feet are terrible, but they are not in the best of shape either. I am the person who apologizes to the nail tech when they finally grab my feet. After my peeling process ended, my feet were in a lot better shape!! They recommend if you have bad heels- two cycles will fully remove all dead skin. After my first round, I think I can successfully go to the nail salon and not apologize. Haha!
For $25 you get one treatment. Most people only use Baby Foot two-three times a year. I am in month two after first application, and my feet are still pretty smooth! I am thinking of picking up a second set just to see if that REALLY helps. You do have to order online, but mine shipped fairly quick. *Buyer Beware- there are imitations out here. The reviews for the imitations have left people with chemical burns and fungal diseases. I do not recommend buying an off brand!!*
I say check this out if you are interested in taking care of your feet. Spring and sandals are right around the corner!! Also, I will leave you to your own courageous selves to google pictures or watch videos about the product. Some are pretty gross!! Read about baby foot Here!
Also, speaking of sandals... I need these from Torrid!
Want to hear about my second round?! Let me know!

You Can't Reread a Phone Call.
When's the last time you put a stamp on something that was not a bill?
When's the last time you received a letter in the mail that wasn't a bill?
I have always been fascinated with letter writing and handwritten notes. I attribute this to my late grandmother who no matter what sent a handwritten card or letter for every holiday or occasion. She had the most ornate, beautiful handwriting. When I was younger, every letter I received I would sit and practice tracing the letters hoping my writing would be as gorgeous one day. I remember thinking about how I would never receive another handwritten card from her, and it really broke my heart.
That same year after she passed, I headed to the mail box to grab what I thought would be sales papers and mostly bills. The corner of a mauve colored envelop caught my eye, and I was excited to receive a card in the mail. While standing at the mailbox, I flipped it over to see who was the sender. That same ornate handwriting I had tried to perfect for so long was beautifully spread across the front of the envelope. I dropped to my knees an cried tears of loss but also joy. To this day, I have this card framed and in my office to admire.
I truly believe we have lost the true value and art of letter writing. There are so few people who actually take the time to practice such an art. When did "Thnx" become more preferred than "Sincerely Yours"? I've made it a personal mission to recapture the art of letter writing and share the joy with those closest in my life. I keep a huge box of blank cards an thank you notes to send whenever needed.
But why you ask? Think about it.
Someone took the time to sit down and put a pen to paper expressing their personal thoughts to you. It's incredibly personal. It is probably one of the most inexpensive ways to brighten someone's day ($0.49!) They can be reread and kept forever.
My goal this year is to send as many handwritten cards and notes as I can! So far, I am 2 for 2 with birthdays on my calendar! Want to be added to my handwritten mail list?! Know someone who would enjoy a handwritten note? Please contact me for details!
I challenge you to take the time and send a handwritten letter to just one person. I promise the joy and return is worth the $0.49!

The Beginning with No End
I am not one to post insanely personal things, but for some reason, I just have an inkling to share this story. Weight loss and body image are something I have struggled with in my adulthood. Weird, right? These are things you usually face in your teen years, but.. not me. Nineteen and honestly feeling quite crappy.
I also don't post about my journey usually because I get accused of using my health condition as a crutch. In all actuality, I KNOW it's not to blame. Poor food decisions and lack of exercise are the culprit.
Now, this post is about weight loss and 21 Day Fix. If you've not heard of it... check it out. It's literally my favorite program, EVER! That topic is a whole different discussion. I just finished cycle two, and I dropped 10.8 pounds and a total of 15.25 inches. I think it is important to remember why you started and your end goal. I don't have a certain weight or a dress I want to fit into, but simply, to be healthier. When I go to the doctor I don't want to be scolded (as much).
The doctor you ask... PCOS and endometriosis. I'm also on a blood pressure pill, which I hate!! The last doctor visit I was diagnosed prediabetic. Most of these can be alleviated with simple weight loss and exercise. My goal is to do this for myself. To better myself. To not be dependent upon medicines to help me function. My follow-up appointment is in February, so I am curious to see what the doctor will say about my progress.
My fuel to keep going? Let me clarify this blog is not to out the person who said these things, but to let you know what lingers in my head when I think about my weight and body.
I met my husband about 7ish years ago. We both had just got out of some pretty ugly relationships. I just knew Joe was the one. I gained weight like crazy- totally blaming it on being happy. Long story short, his ex was not happy. (I mean I could totally see why. Joe is awesome!)
"Joe doesn't like fat girls." Uhhh what. For the first time in my life, I was called fat. Can I tell you how damaging that is? It's bad. I will never forget these words for the rest of my life.
Fast forward a few years, I still remember that comment, and I remember how I felt. Now... it's a little more fuel to reach my goals. I actually smile and shake my head when I think about it. I know I am not in this to be a swimsit model. I am doing this for me. For my family. Most of all, for my health.
I recommend you jump on my band wagon as well. I promise you won't regret it, and I will be cheering you on the whole way!
