Hello Spring!

It's officially spring!! The first day of spring, Palm Sunday, Passion Sunday.  I would have to say this is my second favorite time of the year just behind fall. Everything is beginning to change, and the world is coming to life again. After dropping our nephew off after church, we took the back road to Joe's grandmother's house. That road is a tiny, winding road, but it has some of the most beautiful scenes you will see in this area. I started thinking of all the reasons I love springtime.

1. Flowers. Greenery. I love love love all the flowers and trees coming into bloom. I stepped out on my front porch just two days ago and realized the only two trees in my yard are in full bloom. The lilies are beginning to sprout. The grass is green. Our allergies are in full force. This year we promised ourselves to update the outside and add a walkway from the porch to the driveway.

2. Birds. Call me a nerd. I've always been fascinated with birds. I had two parakeets growing up, and I loved them so much! Just this past week, we filled the feeder, and some visitors are slowly stopping by. I can always tell when birds are at the feeder because the cats sit glued to the window tails waving and teeth chattering.

3. Sandals. I hate wearing shoes, and do not even get me started about socks. I'm also not one of those people who thinks flip flops in 30 degree weather is not acceptable. I just want to slip on some sandals when I have to leave. No socks. No shoelaces. No zippers. No problem.

4. Skirts and Dresses. Just like sandals, throwing on a dress or skirt is easy and not to mention super cute.

5. Everyone quits whining about winter. I swear. This past winter I came across some of the most whiny, angry people. I was so tired of seeing winter getting hated on.  But would you appreciate spring, if it weren't for winter? Let that soak in.

6. Pastels! Somehow I started getting this style magazine in the mail. The Spring edition came in the mail, and it is filled with pastels. Baby pinks, icy lilac, canary yellow, and powdery blues.

7. BABY ANIMALS EVERYWHERE. No more explanation needed.

And with that note, I will end because what can top baby animals?!

Return of the Blog

Remember that time I said I was going to create a blog and stick to it? Yeah, me too. I swear I had really good intentions. It was also part of my New Years resolutions to pick it back up too. I have a dear friend who is giving up social media for some time and turning to writing her on blog. This brain started churning... I remembered this old thing, that New Years resolution. What I remembered the most? How much I enjoyed my blog.  An outlet to write. A way to tell people what I want to say. A place for all things me.

I don't think I have posted anything since September 2014. I am only like 8 months off. No biggie. Do you know how much can change in eight months though??

You know what is coming next....

1. 8 months of catch up (somehow)
2. My ever changing and growing spiritual journey
3. Ups and downs of my recently diagnosed issues
4. Why not Wednesdays (My personal fav!)
5. Low Carb, healthier, lifestyle change
6. All things girlie
7. All girlie challenges
8. Any and everything in between

What do you want to read?? Email, comment, message me to let me know! (lovelacelemonade@gmail.com)

I vow to do better. Pinky promise.

Cats, Cats, Cats... and Harry Potter

As promised, here is my Torrid haul from last week. You are lucky it is even this week because it has been a little hectic. Advice for today. When you are having a cruddy day, and you want to shop but your funds are not ideal…. Go back and look at the clothing and shoes you haven’t worn yet. It is an acceptable alternative, and doesn’t come with buyer’s remorse.

Torrid is a specialty store, and sadly, there isn’t one in Kentucky-closest in Knoxville. They offer plus size trendy, shoes, accessories, and lingerie. My method for shopping at Torrid?

1.       Go in store to try things on! Most times they remain true to size, but occasionally there is that one shirt that fits differently or a shoe that feels odd.

2.       Come home, and buy online! Often times, I find BETTER deals by shopping online with Torrid. There are always coupon codes available for discounts, and they offer flat rate shipping. Buy $10 or $100 of items- ship for one rate! Torrid Website

My favorite times to shop? Ultimate Fashion Sale (UFS-semi-annual sale), and the release boots/booties for the fall season. You can catch those seasonal items you’ve been eyeballing for some time at 60% off during UFS. The boots… they are my weakness.

With all that said, I was more than thrilled when I seen the Torrid box at my house last week! They never ship items in small boxes either. It’s the type of box my mail carrier curses at because it takes up the majority of their vehicle, and they have to deliver it to my door. Warning! My 3 loves are below: cats, shoes, and Harry Potter.
Retro Hip Kitty Tee
Who could pass up this name?? Better yet, who could pass up a cat in a wig wearing a studded  jean jacket???? The studs are sparkly embellishments which I totally couldn't resist. This is an internet exclusive! Once it's gone, it's usually gone. Until they pop up on ebay. Look here : ) It's on sale!

Kitten Me Scoop Neck Tee

I got this shirt simply because it made me crack up- literally laugh out loud. It was even more hilarious when I seen it in person. In case you like a funny cat shirt, Cracks me up :)

Harry Potter Glasses and Bolt

I ALWAYS wanted a Harry Potter shirt- always! However, I didn't want Harry or Ron's face displayed awkwardly across my chest. I wanted sleek and simple. My other concern... glasses on the chest of a shirt. Too many times, I see a girl in a short that has glasses printed directly on her shirt, directly on her chest. It's definitely a shake my head moment. Did you realize you're "I'm a nerd" shirt has caused you to have targets on your boobs??? This shirt... the glasses fall below your breasts, so you are in the clear of targets. When I found this HP shirt, I HAD to buy it. Very, very rarely will I EVER pay this much for a tee, but, again, I really super-duper-uber wanted it. Love HP? Fall in the awkward face/glasses/boobs category? Look at this :)

Now... onto my ultimate weakness. SHOES! I only got three pairs this time. ONLY THREE!

Yoki Troppa Black Buckle Booties

Back in the fall, I fell in love with these boots. At first, I bought the brown because the black reminded me too much of a pirate. There are by far the most comfortable ankle bootie I have ever purchased. They are padded and have great arch support. It's the rule of being a woman: Find something you like, buy it in every color. Once these went on sale, I added the black pair to my collection. I highly recommend adding these to your collect, in BOTH colors. Yoki Bootie

These next two... unfortunately are sold out on Torrid's website. However, you can find them at various other sites (Amazon and TUK to name two).

Both shoes are made by the TUK brand. They offer a different type of style-a gritty on the edge, not from my small town style. Not just for women either! They make shoes for men and children as well. They are extremely well made, and all heels come with additional heel stoppers (the piece that always wears out). Both pairs are very padded and offer great support. The bow on the peep toe is even a satin bow! Visit TUK Shoes to see what all they offer.

I currently have my eyes GLUED to these...CAT SHOES
And... I let Joe know where he can buy them ;)

Might be a crazy cat lady and lots of love until next time!

Yes, there are house hunting memes.

Today has been a longggg day.

I seriously called and/or looked at a multitude of houses this week. I hunt down and investigate every nibble people pass along. Every lead this week has been a dud. Already sold, only 1 bathroom, crooked floors, sinking foundation, and septic backup. You name it....we've encountered it.

We have been searching for a home for quite sometime. I am talking like 3 of the 4 years we've been married. In this area, it's extremely difficult to find a decent house, decently priced. They are either overly, overly priced, or doesn't have the essentials we need. The only house we truly fell in love with had MAJOR issues. I will never forget asking to see the partially finished basement, and the realtor's eyes become large and face turn a shade of red you only see in the movies. This would be the septic backup house- literally 2 inches of "backup" covering the entire basement floor. Plus... the entire foundation was a wreck. More trouble than we were willing to work with. We deemed this house "the poop house."

Also, by now, I have a pre-typed list of questions I ask to every seller. In the house hunting business you have to be prepared! I am positive that realtors cringe when they see my list of questions come out. One of my favorite people in the world taught me, you don't know unless you ask!!

Believe me. I have enjoyed my time in my log house, and we love the area. There comes a time though when you want your own space. Somewhere where I can paint the walls lime green and finally tackle all those home pinterest projects without any questions asked.

The only good part today... The mailman was extremely good to me! I got my package from Torrid. Woo hoo!! Not too much damage. Just a couple of shirts and pairs of shoes. Definite Torrid Haul post will be on it's way!

So here's to the continued journey of looking at houses and scratching them off the list one.... by.... one. Lots of love until next time!
